Character The body is small (50 cm).

The difference with other herons: more robust body, the neck is shorter, more rounded head, beak shorter and thicker.
Iris yellow, yellow beak, black legs. Like to join in a meadow with a buffalo, cow or bull. Every afternoon a small group flew low over the water toward the nest.
Food: grasshoppers, flies, bees, dragonfly larvae, aquatic insects, fish, earthworms. Nesting in colonies in trees over water. Nest of twigs that are not neat arrangement of the water above the treetops.
Eggs are pale blue, the number of items 2-4.
Breeding months of December to March, from February to July.
Habitat Freshwater swamps, grasslands, rice fields.
Deployment Spread very widely across the world.
