Canon lens naming rules are not as complex as the Nikon lenses, but if you are still confused by the meaning of the names of the existing Canon lenses on the market, please read the meaning of some common abbreviations used in Canon lenses.
EF-S

EF stands for here is Electrofocus, while S for Short Back. Electrofocus because this lens has its own motor for autofocus while short-back because the back end of the lens mechanically penetrates deeper into the camera mounting. EF-S lenses are designed specifically for the Canon non full-frame (in addition to camera below) and can not be used on camera full frame.

EF - Electrofocus

L - Luxury

IS - Image Stabilization

DO - diffractive optic

DO lens with features designed to minimize chromatic aberration while reducing the weight and size of the lens.
USM - Ultra Sonic Motor

All Canon lenses have a motor in it, but if you have the technological means USM lens has faster autofocus capabilities, his voice is not so noisy and more efficient batteries and we can switch from autofocus to manual focus by simply rotating the lens ring.
